We will help those people.

In a February 1, 2008 article, Media Matters for America documented Bill O'Reilly's absurd ridiculing of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edward's reference to homeless people living under a bridge in New Orleans.

Included in the MMA article is a video and transcript of O'Reilly saying Edwards is "obsessed with the bridges." Sarcastically, O'Reilly feigns ignorance of the real problem, the tent city under the bridge.

O'Reilly goes on to state that he and Juan Williams would personally go to New Orleans to help those under the bridge if only they knew where the bridge is.

O'REILLY: Just tell me where the bridge is. We will help those people. They can't tell me. OK.

McLEAN: You know what? You know what? Whether it's that specific bridge or somewhere else in America, he's right. There are people who are sleeping under a bridge without a roof over their head. And that's the point.

O'REILLY: OK, Kiki, all you need to do is tell me where the bridge is, Juan and I will go out there and we'll help those folks. OK?

Well look no further Bill. Here are the driving directions from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport to Canal St and Claiborne Ave under the I-10 overpass.

Let there be no doubt, there are homeless people living under I-10 at Canal and Claiborne.

A group of homeless men saw my camera and scrambled to have their pictures taken by me in the hopes of receiving some cash. All I had was my last $20 bill which I gave to one man who said he was going to split it with the a few other men.

Several pictures I took while leaving the bridge under which John Edwards' brain sleeps alone.

Everybody in New Orleans know people are living under the bridge at Canal and Claiborne. I saw that same O'Reilly clip and e-mailed him immediately with a local report on the homeless. I thanked him in advance for his promised help. Funny thing, I never heard back from him. Thanks for the video. Some people will only believe their own eyes.

By the time all the info had gotten to him, he'd already transformed the subject; yes, there were homeless vets but 90% were either addicts or insane and NONE of them were a victim of George Bush's economy and/or neglect. What a maestro, huh?

How do you substantiate that claim?
Even if 90% of homeless veterans are "insane" or "addicts" does that make them any less homeless, veterans, Americans or humans? I think not.

The fact is O'Reilly has and continues to lie about the homeless and veterans in particular. He is a disgrace. Perfect for Fox News.

Under George W Bush poverty is up from 11.3 to 12.3. Unemployment is up from 4.3 to 4.9 and has never been down during his presidency. The price of oil is up 209% from 28.56 to 88.20. The price of gas is up 102% from 147.1 cents per gallon to 297.80 cents per gallon. The Dow is up only a pathetic 15%. The NASDAQ is down 17.75%. The S & P 500 is down 2.90%. The national Debt is at a record 9 trillion+. The largest ever Federal Budget FYI 2009. The biggest government ever. The Constitution is virtually meaningless. Warrantlees wiretaps, American citizens on no-fly lists justified by Saudi terrorist attacks, war crimes & torture. Osama bin Laden still alive and well in Pakistan, our great ally in the War On Terror and military dictatorship.

Shall I go on?

And O'Reilly is still misleading on homeless veterans.

Forget about "Bill the liar", you won't see one cent out of him and he'll conveniently ignore your directions and video.

God bless America. This is ridiculous, for the richest country in the world to treat its veterans like that.

How does one help those folks?

Is there a charity one can donate to that specifically aids them?

We can't wait for nor depend on Billo to keep his word. What can we do?

Cheers.

The only charity I know of off hand is Ozanam Inn, a homeless shelter.

I guess that wewillhelpthesepeople did not grasp the sarcasm of my posting. I was being critical of O'Reilly, his spinning, his constant moving of the goalposts. Read my blog, "Contra O'Reilly" and THEN read me the riot act, O.K.?

Sorry Will. My bad.

See Bill, this is how you say you're sorry for making a mistake.

But it was a good riot act, no?

Excellent riot act. Good research. Thanks for responding.
